Controlling your Central Heating

You can get a variety of controllers to best suit your needs. From the most basic analogue controller (a dial that turns on and off) to a modern Wifi enabled Thermostat that can be remotely controlled from your phone. Below are some methods for controlling Central Heating Systems.

Google Nest Learning Thermostat Controller
Control from your phone or voice

  • Touch screen and intuitive interface; this controller works with most Central Heating Systems.
  • Learns the temperature you like and programs itself.
  • Remote control; if you are away you can start up your central heating system through an App on your phone in time for your space to be warm on your return
  • Mount on wall or place on a bench with the stand

TRV Controller on Radiator Panel
As well as a central controller for selecting times for when the whole heating system turns on/off automatically, including the general air temperature to heat the house to; radiator panels each have their own thermostat called a thermostatic radiator valve (TRV).
  • A good simple control; each TRV can be dialed up or down (and turned off) in each room to the users preferred temperature level.
  • The TRV regulates the radiator according to the air temperature of that particular room which is subject to fluctuations from heat gain (e.g. when the sun comes into the room).
